Quiet hours are 10 PM to 8 AM. This building is 150 years old and sound travels between floors and neighboring units. Please take your shoes off in the entryway, keep music low, and skip the running and jumping.

The loft has a noise monitor that sends a text if levels get high. It measures volume only and does not record sound.

• No smoking, pets, parties or events.
• No piano during quiet hours.
• Lock both doors when you go out.

Three ductless heat pumps (kitchen, main bedroom, second bedroom) each have a remote in that room. Press ON and the temperature appears; if you hear a beep but see no number, press ON again. MODE switches between heat and cooling. To change °F/°C, hold the up and down arrows together for five seconds.

Gas fireplaces: the living room and main bedroom stoves each have a switch on the back left side. In the bedroom use the left switch (the right one is an unconnected fan). Pilot lights stay on all year, so a small flame after switching off is normal. On very cold days the kitchen heater has an ON/OFF button on top.

All 22 shades run from three remotes: kitchen counter (great room), main bedroom nightstand, and the black remote on the second bedroom nightstand.

• To move every shade in a room, set the remote to 0 with + or −, then press up or down.
• If a few don't move, press the same button again.
• Shades are numbered clockwise around each room.

Plug your laptop into the monitors with USB-C, HDMI or USB3; spare cables are in the desk drawer. Recent MacBook Pros can drive two screens over the two USB-C cables. The Elgato microphone works with Zoom, Teams and Skype without drivers and doesn't record or connect to the network. Herman Miller Aeron chair included.

Printer: on the Wi-Fi, look for "Noone Falls Printer." If asked for a driver, search "Brother Color Laser" on brother.com or use the disc in the desk drawer. Paper is in the kitchen supply closet.

The 85-inch Samsung runs through an Apple TV: Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Apple TV+ and YouTube TV for live channels, or sign in with your own accounts. Blank screen? Press the TV/home button on the Apple remote.

PS5: press the power button on a controller and the TV follows. Please return controllers to the charging stand.

Sonos: on the Wi-Fi, pick "Kitchen" or "Living Room" as a speaker in Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music or TIDAL.

The Viking range has more knobs than a small aircraft; the chart beside it shows which knob lights which burner. Please wipe down surfaces if you cook.

The stacked LG washer and dryer are behind the first hallway door, with detergent on the shelf. Clear the lint trap each load. Iron and board are in the closet opposite.

Two bins left of the sink: one recycling, one trash. Full bags can go in the closet by the front door. Staying a while? The dumpster is at the far end of the northern lot; drive, it's farther than it looks.

Yamaha G1J grand piano: restored and regularly tuned. Keep drinks off it and avoid zippered jackets on the bench. No playing during quiet hours.

1935 Smith Corona typewriter: paper is in the supply closet. Write a letter to someone you've lost touch with, or leave a short story behind for Chris to find.

Patio: best on summer mornings. If you remove a furniture cover, please put it back.
